What makes an SOP specific

A strong SOP rests on three pieces of evidence: something you did that shows real interest in the field, why this programme suits the next step and not just any programme, and a plausible plan for afterwards. The first matters most. A final-year project, an internship task you owned, or a problem you saw at work in Kathmandu tells an admissions reader more than a paragraph about your passion.

The "why this university" section should name things you could not copy from another university's page: a specific module, research group or industry link, and why it matters to your plan. If a sentence still makes sense with a different university's name in it, it is not specific enough.

Visa SOPs are read differently

For Australia's student visa, and for UK and Canadian applications, the statement is also read to decide whether you are a genuine student. Officers look for a clear link between your past study or work and the chosen course, a realistic explanation of how you will pay for it, and ties to Nepal that make returning credible. Gaps in study, a change of field or a previous refusal need a short honest explanation, not silence.

Requirements change. Always check the current guidance from the embassy, the university and your consultancy before submitting, and treat any SOP sample online, including ours, as an example and not a template.

Frequently asked questions

Will you write a generic SOP I can send to every university?

No. Each statement is written to one university's prompt and course. You can reuse your core story, but the parts about why this programme and this university have to be specific, or they read as copied.

Can you write my recommendation letter?

A recommendation letter has to come from your referee, in their words. We can format and proofread a letter your referee has written, and help you prepare a short brief for them listing the work they supervised. We will not write a letter to be signed in someone else's name.

Can you add work experience or achievements to make my profile stronger?

No. We present your real experience as clearly as possible, and we explain gaps honestly, such as a gap year or a change of field. Invented details are a common reason for visa refusals.

Do you work with consultancies?

We work directly with students. If your consultancy has its own SOP format or checklist, send it along and we follow it.

How long does an SOP take?
